James Hetfield, Sammy Hagar Tap John Mayer, More for Charity Concert

Melissa Etheridge, Tommy Lee set for third Acoustic-4-A-Cure, benefiting pediatric cancer research

Metallica‘s James Hetfield and Sammy Hagar have tapped John Mayer, Melissa Etheridge and more for their third annual Acoustic-4-A-Cure charity concert, benefitting the Pediatric Cancer Program at the University of California, San Francisco’s Benioff Children’s Hospital.

The concert will be held May 15th at the Fillmore in San Francisco and also feature Tommy Lee, Train’s Pat Monahan and Joe Satriani. The show will boast acoustic performances alongside collaborations and other surprises.

Tickets for Acoustic-4-A-Cure will go on sale April 1st at 10 a.m. exclusively online via Live Nation with a limit of two per customer. General admission tickets are priced at $135 while some VIP tickets will be available for $500. VIP tickets include access to a special viewing area, an Acoustic-4-A-Cure gift bag, food and drinks, the chance to meet artists and more. All proceeds will help fund research into children’s brain tumors at UCSF Benioff.

Hetfield and Hagar launched the Acoustic-4-A-Cure concerts in 2014 with a lineup that boasted Monahan, Satriani, Billie Joe Armstrong, Heart’s Nancy Wilson and producer and musician, Scott Mathews. Monahan and Satriani also returned for the 2015 concert, which featured Alice in Chains’ Jerry Cantrell, Linda Perry and Red Hot Chili Peppers’ drummer, Chad Smith.

Last year’s show notably featured several unique collaborations. Hetfield and his daughter Cali performed an acoustic cover of Adele’s “Crazy for You,” while last-minute guest Adam Sandler helped Monahan and Smith cover Led Zeppelin’s “Ramble On.”
