White Stripes frontman Jack White, 30, and wife, British supermodel Karen Elson, 26, are expecting their first child, due in the spring. This will be the first child for both, who were wed last June in the Brazilian city of Manuas, by a Shaman priest in a canoe at the spot where three rivers — the Rio Negro, the Solimones and the Amazon — meet. Stripes drummer Meg White served as maid of honor and the Stripes' manager as best man. The Shaman ceremony was followed by a blessing at a local Catholic cathedral.
The White Stripes scored their highest opening yet at Number Three with the release of their fifth album, Get Behind Me Satan, last June. The duo will kick off a brief tour of Japan and Australia in January.
