The upcoming season of Homeland will include 12 one-hour episodes, with production to begin in the spring. The show won six Emmys this year, including Outstanding Drama Series, and the second season premiere reeled in 5.2 million viewers across platforms.
“The Emmy wins for Homeland have certainly set the stage for a great second season,” said Showtime Networks president of entertainment David Nevins. “The writers, cast and crew of Homeland continue to create a remarkably entertaining and suspenseful roller coaster ride, growing audiences week after week. We can’t wait for our viewers to experience what unfolds through the rest of season two. Our partners at Fox 21 have been tremendous, and we are thrilled to begin the planning for Homeland’s third season.”
A recent programming mixup stemming from a baseball rain delay couldn’t dampen Fox’s enthusiasm for The X Factor, the singing competition created by Simon Cowell. “I couldn’t be happier about The X Factor already being renewed for another season,” Cowell said in a statement. “I am so proud of the show and the team who have made it this season.”
