Heart It First: Kenny Lattimore’s ‘You Have My Heart’

New song is off the album ‘Anatomy of a Love Song’

Grammy-nominated singer Kenny Lattimore is one of this era’s most revered soul balladeers. He sings about love — not lust — one of the reasons why his catalog is popular on wedding playlists. Lattimore continues with his tradition with his album, Anatomy of a Love Song, which will be released on April 14 on Sincere Soul Records/eOne Music.

Yahoo Music is pleased to premiere one of the new tracks, “You Have My Heart.”

On the ballad, Lattimore makes a plea for his woman to let down her guard. He sings, “There’s no reason to keep holding back,” and “Give in completely, girl.”

Lattimore, who was sampled on Kanye West’s “I’m In It” from his Yeezus album, recently played the Java Jazz Festival in Indonesia and has upcoming dates in Washington, D.C., Las Vegas, Napa, and San Juan.

Anatomy of a Love Song is available for pre-order. “Love Me Back” is the album’s first single. Lattimore’s last album, Timeless, was released in 2008.
