Zayn Malik has teamed up with rising electronic music duo Snakehips for the moody, smoldering “Cruel.” The track will appear on the duo’s upcoming debut album, which will also host their hit “All My Friends” featuring Chance the Rapper and Tinashe.
On the song, Malik refers to the object of his affection as a “Venus in Converse” who beams light into his life despite the dark, violent news of the world in recent months. “It’s such a cruel world/Savin’ all my love for you, girl/It’s such a cruel world/Maybe I found something good, girl,” he sings on chorus.
Malik launched his solo career this year, hitting Number One with his first post-One Direction single “Pillowtalk” as well as with his debut album Mind of Mine which made him the first U.K. male solo artist to top Billboard 200 with his debut LP. “Cruel” makes one of his first pieces of new music since releasing Mind of Mine in March. Malik also appears on the Ghostbusters soundtrack, which is out today, with the song “Who.”
