Hear Yasiin Bey’s Pleading New Song ‘Dec 99th – N.A.W.’

Yasiin Bey, formerly known as Mos Def, has released a new song called “Dec 99th – N.A.W.” The new music follows on the heels of his arrest early this year in South Africa for allegedly violating local immigration laws, which included being accused of using a fraudulent “world passport” when he was trying to leave the country.
The new track opens with the lyrics, “Girls and ladies / Pushing out at the playground / So, so beautiful / they say that they like you / Do they even like themselves / You like yourself so much.” The song’s title initials stand for “needs and wants,” which he pleadingly repeats during the low-key song. “I hope you got what you need and that you need what you want,” he sings.
As HotNewHipHop reports, the artist released the Ferrari Shepard-produced single on Thursday, a day after he left a message on the same SoundCloud account for Scandinavian fans that said he was reaching out from Cape Town, where he has reportedly lived since May 2013. He also announced he would not make it to shows he was scheduled to perform this week presumably due to his passport troubles. The rapper said that he plans to reschedule the shows for the fall.
