Hear Warpaint Preview LP With Seductive ‘New Song’
Warpaint blend art rock and pop eeriness on “New Song,” a track from their upcoming third LP, Heads Up, out September 23rd via Rough Trade Records. “You’ve got the moves,” the L.A. quartet harmonizes over zig-zagging percussion, electronic loops and echoing guitar leads. “I have never felt this strong, dancing to you all night long.”
Heads Up was produced by Jacob Bercovici, who worked on Warpaint’s debut EP, 2008’s Exquisite Corpse. The band reunited for sessions in January after having spent 2015 working on solo projects – including singer-bassist Jenny Lee Lindberg’s debut 2015’s right on!
The new album, which follows 2014’s Warpaint, was influenced by an eclectic group of artists, including Janet Jackson, Björk, Kendrick Lamar and Outkast.
“I feel really proud of what we made – almost surprised and shocked,” Lindberg said in a statement. “When we were making it, I was like, ‘I wonder what this is going to sound like? How’s this going to come together?’ I love the way that it came together so nicely. I feel so proud of it, and like it’s an evolution of our band. It sounds like a mature version of Warpaint.”
The band will promote the album this fall on a global tour, which kicks off September 19th in Seattle and winds down November 4th at the Iceland Airwaves Festival in Reykjavik.
