Tarentino produced the hard-hitting tune, which follows up many of the hard-style EDM tracks Waka Flocka has appeared on recently. Previously, the rapper had dropped a single produced by Mike Will Made It, called “Slippin,” which was reported to have been the first Flockaveli 2 single, though “Workin” has now been confirmed as the first taste of the long-delayed LP.
“I don’t go to the studio and try to make a radio record,” the rapper said in a promo video that accompanied the single’s release. “However I feel, that’s how I rap. I’m an entertainer, man. All that other shit is for the birds.”
In April, Waka Flocka tweeted that his label, Atlantic Records, had been holding back the release of Flockaveli 2. He requested to buy out of his contract in the same tweet. The album had been originally set for a 2013 release date. Although a new date has not been confirmed, Atlantic now says it will come out this winter.
Between touring extensively with artists like DJ Whoo Kid on the Turn Up Godz Tour and releasing a collaborative track with Good Charlotte called “Game On” in support of the film Pixels, Flocka has also declared his candidacy to be the next President of the United States. Three years after tweeting “I’m dead-ass running for president in 2016,” he kept his word and announced his campaign with Rolling Stone on April 20th. Following his announcement, the rapper took to the streets of New York City to show just how real his campaign is by hitting the streets of New York City to gain signatures from prospective voters.
