Vince Staples released "BagBak" on Thursday – the first sign of new solo Staples' material since last August's Prima Donna EP.
The fast-paced, energetic song has Staples in top form. He flexes his dexterous rhymes that celebrates his blackness and black communities over a bouncy, glitch-y beat. "Obama ain't enough for me, we only getting started," he raps on the song's second verse. "The next Bill Gates can be on Section 8 up in the projects."
The release of "BagBak" is well-timed: later this month, Staples embarks on a six week, 26 date tour of North America, his first cross country jaunt as a headliner. He kicks off the Life Aquatic tour February 24th in San Diego; Kilo Kish will accompany him as a supporting act.
Staples is ready for action. "Think it's time to get back on the horse, if I do say so myself," he tweeted this week.
