Hear Tinashe’s 15-Song New Project ‘Nightride’

Tinashe released her new project Nightride Thursday night on all streaming and for-purchase platforms. The singer announced her sophomore album Joyride last fall and still plans to release that album, her proper follow-up to 2014’s Aquarius, in the spring.
Speaking to Rolling Stone, Tinashe revealed that Nightride and Joyride are two parts of the same project. The multi-talented performer had teased fans with new music earlier this fall with the releases of “Superlove” and “Company” and promised a fall album, which was originally announced as Joyride.
“The majority of the album was already there, so it wasn’t like that much changed,” she says. “I see [Nightride and Joyride] as two things that are equally the same. I think you can be a combination of things, and that’s what makes people human and complex. They are equally me. I don’t like to be limited to one particular thing so I want to represent that duality and that sense of boundlessness in my art.”
Tinashe released her debut album Aquarius in 2014, following her popular, independently-released solo In Case We Die. She followed Aquarius with the mixtape Amethyst and toured as an opening act for Nicki Minaj and Katy Perry.
Joyride was originally scheduled for a spring release earlier this year, and the singer had plotted a tour in support of the LP. Instead, the album was delayed and the tour was cut short so she can create more material for the album, which has now been split into the two projects.
Nightride is now available on iTunes.
