Hear Strokes’ Bassist Sing With New Band Summer Moon
Strokes‘ bassist Nikolai Fraiture is stepping into the lead singer role with his side project, Summer Moon, which is releasing their official debut single. “With You Tonight” features an expressive bass line, bright guitars and Fraiture’s restrained vocals.
This track initially surfaced last summer in demo form on SoundCloud. At the time, Summer Moon included members of Au Revoir Simone (Erika Spring) and the Like (Tennesse Thomas). The group now features a new lineup: Camila Grey from Uh Huh Her on keys and vocals, Noah Harmon from The Airborne Toxic Event on guitar and Stephen Perkins from Jane’s Addiction on drums.
Summer Moon will play a series of shows in L.A. this week to celebrate the release of “With You Tonight,” including a gig at Bardot’s, a slot at Petty Fest and a performance for Last Call With Carson Daly on Friday.
According to Fraiture’s Twitter, he’s been plowing through Tom Petty’s catalog, preparing for Petty Fest. “Going through @tompetty and The Heartbreakers songs for @the_bestfest’s #PettyFest,” he wrote last week. “Too many good ones!”
