Hear Run the Jewels Soundtrack Trailer for Marvel ‘Black Panther’ Comic
Run the Jewels are helping launch new Marvel comic series Black Panther: A Nation Under Our Feet with their frenetic tune “Oh My Darling (Don’t Cry).” The song soundtracks the first in a series of video trailers. According to Billboard, Marvel will promote the project with new episodes each month, featuring music from “some of the biggest names in the music industry.”
The first video installment features acclaimed writer Ta-Nehisi Coates laying out the motivations of various characters – including protagonist T’Challa (the Black Panther) – and surveying the looming threats in the advanced nation of Wakanda.
“T’Challa has lost his greatest ally, his sister Shuri, who died in battle in his absence,” overlaid text reads. “A mysterious woman, Zenzi, ignites this rebellion against the crown. Partnered with the warrior Tetu, they amass an army for the impending war.”
Coates has received media attention for his writing in publications like The New York Times Magazine, The Washington Post and The Atlantic. In 2015, his book Between the World and Me won the National Book Award for Nonfiction, and he received a MacArthur “Genius Grant.”
