Hear Puff Daddy’s ‘MMM’ Mixtape Featuring Wiz Khalifa, Lil Kim, Future
Puff Daddy has recruited an all-star collaborative cast – including Lil Kim, Future, Wiz Khalifa, Jadakiss, French Montana, Pusha T, Big Sean, Travis Scott, Ty Dolla Sign and the Lox – for a free mixtape, MMM, timed around his 46th birthday. “MMM is a thank you to my fans and is just the beginning, a prelude to what will be my final album, No Way Out 2,” the rapper says in a statement.
Puff Daddy, born Sean Combs, described the release as a “sonic motion picture” in a statement. “Before I used to make records when I made my music,” he said Tuesday night, The Associated Press reports. “Then I decided to make culture. And as I got older, I decided I’m going to make fashion. Ladies and gentlemen, listen and watch some fashion.”
The 12-track MMM explores the rap mogul’s “hustling spirit” and beginnings in Harlem, according to a press release. Two familiar tracks are the eerie, minimalist “Workin” (now featuring appearances from Big Sean and Travis Scott) and the horn-driven “Auction,” featuring Bad Boy veterans Lil Kim, King Los and the Lox’s Styles P – both of which were debuted during an all-star performance at the BET Hip-Hop Awards.
The mixtape’s artwork features a 1999 photo, shot by Annie Leibovitz, of Combs and Kate Moss being hounded by photographers in Paris.
The release of MMM clarifies confusion surrounding Combs’ album release schedule, as the rapper has previously teased two projects: MMM (or Money Making Mitch) and a sequel to Puff Daddy & the Family’s 1997 LP, No Way Out.
