Hear Pharrell, Kim Burrell’s Rapturous ‘I See a Victory’
Pharrell and gospel star Kim Burrell unveiled the snappy, soulful new song, “I See A Victory,” from the upcoming historical drama, Hidden Figures.
The new track comes with a lyric video featuring clips from the movie, which tells the true story of three African-American women at NASA who played a crucial role in launching John Glenn into space. “I See A Victory” is a fitting sonic accompaniment, with Pharrell giving his recent neo-disco sound a gospel twist and Burrell unleashing a euphoric vocal performance, belting alongside a backup choir, “There’ll be signs on top of signs/ Just so you know the history!”
Along with Pharrell and Burrell, the Hidden Figures soundtrack will feature contributions from Mary J. Blige, Alicia Keys and Janelle Monáe. The LP is available to pre-order.
Hidden Figures arrives in select theaters Christmas Day, with a wide release planned for January 6th. The movie stars Taraji P. Henson, Octavia Spencer and Monáe as NASA mathematicians and engineers Katherine Johnson, Dorothy Vaughan and Mary Jackson. The movie also stars Kirsten Dunst, Jim Parsons and Kevin Costner.
