Hear Phantogram’s Hypnotic New Single ‘You Don’t Get Me High Anymore’
“Walk with me to the end/ Stare with me into the abyss,” Sarah Barthel croons on Phantogram‘s hypnotic new single, “You Don’t Get Me High Anymore.” The track, out officially June 16th, is about the lurking pain of a stale relationship. “Nothing is fun, not like before,” Barthel laments.
The Ricky Reed-produced track will appear on the band’s upcoming third LP, dubbed #III on the band’s social media accounts. The band hasn’t revealed many details about the album, which will be their followup to their 2015 collaboration with rapper Big Boi, Big Grams.
In a recent Spin interview, Reed suggested that the new songs would explore a dark mood, following the death of Barthel’s sister Rebecca halfway through the recording process. “It was a pretty dark album [before], and of course, you can imagine after,” the producer said.
