Hear One of David Bowie’s Final Recordings ‘Killing a Little Time’

Singer’s last songs highlight ‘Lazarus Cast Album’ featuring cast of off-Broadway production

The eerie “Killing a Little Time,” one of David Bowie‘s final trio of studio recordings, is available to stream. Exploring a sonic path similar to his final LP, 2015’s Blackstar, “Killing” blends industrial rhythms, jazz-tinged woodwinds and menacing lyrical imagery. Metallic guitar riffs add an even darker edge.

“Killing a Little Time” and Bowie’s other two final recordings, “No Plan” and “When I Met You,” highlight the upcoming Lazarus Cast Album, which features interpretations of songs throughout his discography as performed by the cast and house band of the acclaimed off-Broadway musical

The new Bowie originals, co-produced by Bowie and longtime collaborator Tony Visconti, feature jazz saxophonist Donny McCaslin and his quartet – the core group of players featured on Blackstar. Lazarus Cast Album was produced by the show’s musical director, Henry Hey, who previously played piano on Bowie’s 2013 LP, The Next Day.

Lazarus Cast Album, which also features Blackstar track “Lazarus,” will be issued as a 2-CD or 3-LP set on Friday, October 21st. “Killing a Little Time” will be available to stream on Bowie’s website until release date.
