Hear Oasis’ Unreleased Acoustic Take on ‘She’s Electric’

Earlier this year, the Oasis: Chasing the Sun reissue series began with three-disc edition of the band’s debut Definitely Maybe, and now, their follow-up (What’s the Story) Morning Glory? is receiving a similar treatment. Out September 30th, the new set will combine a remastered version of the original LP with the era’s complete B-sides, live recordings of tracks like “Talk Tonight” and “Some Might Say” and a few of the demos that got the LP started. Below, listen to an exclusive stream of one of those demos: an early, acoustic take on “She’s Electric.”
“‘I’ll be you and you be me’ is from Stop, Look and Listen,” Noel Gallagher writes in the reissue’s liner notes, referring to one of the lines from the song. “We used to be at school and you’d have a class where’d they play TV. It was Sesame Street but an English version. That stayed with me for years until I wrote ‘She’s Electric.'”
In Rolling Stone‘s original review of Morning Glory, Jon Wiederhorn gave the album four stars, writing, “It’s no secret that tension and instability have been inherent traits of great rock teams, going as far back as Jagger and Richards, but for Oasis, the addition of shared genes gives their songs extra impact and dimension. No matter how much the Gallaghers fight — or pose — their brotherly bond holds at the center.”
Recently, the record was included on our list of the 500 greatest of all time. The deluxe edition will be released on Big Brother Recordings can be pre-ordered here.
