Hear Moby and Darth & Vader’s Space Jam ‘Death Star’ – Premiere

Emperor Palpatine finally has the crushing electro entrance theme he always deserved. Rave veteran Moby and Brazilian newcomer Darth & Vader have teamed up for “Death Star,” cramming tight synth stabs, theatrical strings and plenty of vicious effects into a breakneck five-minute jam for their debut collaboration on Steve Aoki‘s Dim Mak label.

“I was super happy to collaborate with the legendary Moby. His contribution to the music industry has been ridiculous,” Darth & Vader, known in this galaxy as Hugo Castellan, tells Rolling Stone. “I’m personally super happy with the result. The breakdown is unique and the drop is fresh.”
Moby, meanwhile, recently appeared at Mysteryland USA, a Dutch festival spin-off that transports dance music to the site of the original Woodstock festival in upstate New York. There, he DJ’d and gave a lecture on “Music, Neuroscience and the Brain.” In March, he penned a Rolling Stone editorial about his path to veganism.
“Death Star” will officially be released on July 1st. Pre-0rder the song (and a pair of its remixes) here.
