Brian “Danger Mouse” Burton’s new label, 30th Century Records, the Gnarls Barkley producer’s imprint for Columbia Records, will share its inaugural release on December 18th in the form of 30th Century Records Compilation Volume I. The guitar-minded collection features 30th Century–signed artists like Autolux, Apache Sun and Maybird alongside tracks by Sam Cohen, Nine Pound Shadow and Dan Auerbach’s the Arcs, who provide a menacing new cut titled “Fools Gold.”

On the dusty, fuzzed-out rocker, the Black Keys singer guides his new project through the atmospheric, Morricone-inspired landscapes that are staples of Danger Mouse’s work, as the track marches along toward a pulverizing guitar solo. “Fools Gold” comes on the heels of the Arcs’ debut LP, Yours, Dreamily, and their Record Store Day exclusive The Arcs vs. The Inventors Vol. I.

“Generally, Fool’s Gold is made of iron or copper pyrites that are often mistaken for gold,” Auerbach told Rolling Stone in a statement about the track. “It has the same thrilling discovery, the same shiny luster and perceived weight as gold, but it isn’t gold and when all is said and done, it has the same value as a hunk of shit. It’s always been so easy to be a fool. We recorded this song at Easy Eye Sound in the summer of 2015.  Honored to have it released on Brian’s new imprint.”

Autolux, who contribute a new track titled “Change My Head,” will be among the first artists to release a new LP on 30th Century Records when their follow-up to 2010’s Transit Transit arrives in early 2016. “In the dreamless world of the music industry, it’s rare to find a champion who wants to use the business to promote the art rather than the art to promote the business,” Autolux told Rolling Stone. “When Brian heard our record, it was clear he understood what we are doing and where we want to go.”
