Hear Mac Miller, Ariana Grande Duet on Neo-Soul Song ‘My Favorite Part’
Mac Miller‘s new offering is a sweet hip-hop ballad featuring Ariana Grande. “You know I know who you really are, ain’t need to lie,” Miller drawls, existing in a lethargic space between singing and rapping. “The universe couldn’t keep us apart, why would it even try?”
“My Favorite Part” favors the staggered punch of early 2000s neo-soul. A warm electric keyboard drifts over the beat; a guitar picks absentmindedly at a few notes then fades away, flickering in and out of the mix. Miller’s croon is charmingly off-key. In contrast, Grande approaches the bridge with her usual enthusiasm for flying up and down the scale.
The song will appear on Miller’s new full-length, The Divine Feminine. The ten-track project includes contributions from Kendrick Lamar, Ty Dolla $ign, and Anderson .Park. The LP hits shelves September 16th, right before Miller embarks on a lengthy tour.
