Hear Kanye West, Big Sean, John Legend’s Inspiring New Song
Big Sean gets inspirational on his new song, “One Man Can Change the World,” a stark piano ballad featuring Kanye West and John Legend that will appear on the rapper’s upcoming LP, Dark Sky Paradise, out February 24th.
Over a simple rolling piano beat, Sean reminisces about his rough upbringing, touching on everything from his own outsized dreams to his stepbrother’s drug dealing.
The following verse is even more poignant, as Sean pays tribute to his grandmother, an inspirational force in his life having grown up in segregated Virginia and served in World War II as one of the first female black captains. While “One Man Can Change the World” is primarily an emotional showcase for Big Sean, both West and Legend lend support by taking turns singing the song’s touching hook.
This isn’t West’s first appearance on a Big Sean song, though it is his first with an official credit. The rapper recently appeared on an extended edit of “Blessings” (also featuring Drake), which Sean posted online after the original’s arrival. It’s unclear, however, which version will appear on Dark Sky Paradise, though West’s fingerprints will be all over the LP as executive producer. The album will also include guest turns from Chris Brown, Ty Dolla $ign, Lil Wayne and Ariana Grande.
West also joined Big Sean on stage during the latter’s Yahoo! Live performance at the House of Blues in Los Angeles earlier this month. While the pair performed “Blessings” sans Drake, Yeezy, as he’s wont to do, managed to steal the show with a brief tirade slamming Nike and promoting his new partnership with Adidas, after which he performed Yeezus cut “New Slaves.”
