Hear James Blake’s Hypnotic New Song ‘Timeless’

Singer also reveals he’s completed work on follow-up to 2013’s ‘Overgrown’

James Blake revealed that he’s completed work on his new album, reportedly titled Radio Silence, and debuted a new track called “Timeless” during an appearance on BBC Radio 1 Thursday.

The hypnotic cut finds Blake and his nearly robotic croon harmonizing of a sparse, pulsing beat that grows increasingly complex over its four-minute runtime. In addition to premiering “Timeless,” Blake also spent a portion of his BBC visit discussing his upcoming LP.

“I said it a couple of months ago that I think it’s time to start recording an album because, you know, there’ve been requests. People have been asking if I’m going to record a record, so I did one.” Blake said during the broadcast (via Pitchfork). “It turned out great; quite long, but I’m really happy with it.” Blake added that his new album is “18 tracks long … one of the tracks is 20 minutes long, as well.”

In November 2014, Blake said his new album, the follow-up to 2013’s Overgrown, was about 70 percent completed and he hoped would’ve been out by the first half of 2015. In the ensuing months, the singer revealed that he had collaborated with Bon Iver’s Justin Vernon and Kanye West for his new LP, but it’s unclear whether those collaborations had made the 18-track final cut.

In February, Blake debuted new song “Modern Soul” during his BBC Radio 1 residency. No release date for the new album has been announced, but Blake hinted during his latest appearance that an announcement of some kind was imminent.
