Hear Iggy Pop and Josh Homme’s Winding, Scorching ‘Sunday’

Duo unveil latest single off their ‘Post Pop Depression’ LP

Iggy Pop has unveiled “Sunday,” another new track off his Post Pop Depression, his surprise collaborative album with Josh Homme. The winding, six-minute track navigates around a slithering bass line and scorching guitar stabs as Pop croons, “This house is as slick as a senator’s statement / This job is a masquerade of recreation.” Later on the cut, female vocalists join Pop for the choruses before guitar solos guide Pop to the outro. Then, out of the long “Sunday” fade-out, the track blossoms a minute-long orchestral interlude.

“Sunday” follows previous Post Pop Depression singles “Gardenia” and “Break Into Your Heart.” “I proposed [the idea] to him by text from my flip-phone,” Pop recently said of the Homme collaboration on The Late Show. “I just said, ‘I thought maybe we could write something and record it. I didn’t want it to put it in a box, and neither did he.”

Post Pop Depression is out March 18th. Pop and Homme embark on a six-week-long trek in support of their new LP March 28th at Seattle’s Paramount Theatre.
