Hear Gwar Perform Song Howard Stern Wrote in Sixth Grade

Heavy metal weirdoes Gwar hit the Sirius XM studios in New York on Halloween to record a pulverizing rendition of “Silver Nickels and Golden Dimes,” which fans of The Howard Stern Show know as the song the shock jock wrote as a sixth-grader.
“They remade my song that I wrote in the sixth grade,” Howard Stern told listeners of Gwar’s version. “I’m very honored, by the way, that anybody records my song, but I have to say, they took a lot of liberties with the song. However, the King of All Media admitted of Gwar’s cover, which the group recorded on the Stern Wrap-Up Show, “I do like their version better.”
Gwar aren’t the first artist to take Stern’s adolescent musings and put it to music: In 2014 at the Howard Stern Birthday Bash, Jewel offered up a much gentler take on “Silver Nickels and Golden Dimes.”
William Shatner also recorded his own rendition of the track.
