Hear Glass Animals’ Propulsive Indie-Pop Track ‘Life Itself’
Indie-pop band Glass Animals returns with psychedelic single “Life Itself,” from upcoming second LP. The song is a propulsive, percussion-driven song that hints at an edgier, rawer direction. The British four-piece haven’t announced a release date for the album, which follows their 2014 debut, Zaba.
“Things have changed a lot for us over the past two years. Instead of sitting in the studio we’ve been in a different city every night; making friends, hearing crazy stories, getting in crazy trouble,” lead singer-producer Dave Bayley said in a press release. “So much has happened! All of it made me want to think about people, and write something rawer and more human.”
Bayley said Glass Animals aim to capture the energetic vibe of their stage show. “Production-wise, we’ve been buzzing off of the amazing energy of the crowds we’ve been playing to,” he said. “As crowds grew, they got a bit more feral, and so did we. We found ourselves going a bit wilder on stage.”
Last week, the band released an album teaser featuring an vocoder-heavy groove against a retro-styled scene with a crying waitress.
