Hear Danny Brown and Clams Casino’s Woozy ‘Worth It’

Danny Brown and producer Clams Casino have dropped their collaborative “Worth It,” a spacey jam recorded for the ongoing Adult Swim Singles program. On the track, Brown ponders deeply about the hip-hop lifestyle, asking, “Is it really worth it? / For fast cars and ice / Do you wanna live that life? / Is it really worth it? / New girls every night / Do you wanna live that life?” Download the track for free at Adult Swim.
The rapper also showcases his brash bravado when he takes aim at the rap game. “Smoke ’til I get a head rush / Lookin’ at you rappers like breakfast / No apologies for what Imma do to ya / Imma take that game like I’m a sore loser,” the rapper rhymes over a textbook Clams Casino production with aquatic environs and loopy beats. While this is Brown’s first time working with Casino, the rapper did sample the producer’s work on A$AP Rocky’s “Demons” for Brown’s Old cut “Lonely.”
“Worth It” is the ninth installment in this year’s edition of the Adult Swim Singles program. Swervedriver, Peaches and Yung Lean are among the other artists who have already dropped tracks through Adult Swim. More exclusive songs will continue to drop each week until October 12th, and the coming weeks will see new cuts by Flying Lotus, Sia, Skrillex, Run the Jewels, Chromatics, DOOMSTARKS (the Ghostface Killah/MF Doom collaboration) and more.
Brown last released his third LP Old in 2013. Since then, the rapper has remained largely inactive, appearing along fellow Motor City all-stars on Eminem’s “Detroit Vs. Everybody” and writing a Dr. Seuss-inspired children’s book.
