Hear Cloud Nothings’ Anthemic New Song ‘Internal World’

Cloud Nothings pair fuzzy power-chord riffs with pop hooks on “Internal World,” a Weezer-like new track from their upcoming fourth LP, Life Without Sound. “Internal world, the one worth living/ But I’m not the one who’s always right,” frontman Dylan Baldi sings through a wall of guitars.
Last month, Cloud Nothings detailed Life Without Sound (out January 27th) and issued lead single “Modern Act.” The album, which follows 2014’s Here and Nowhere Else, was recorded across three weeks in March with producer John Goodmanson (Sleater-Kinney, Blonde Redhead).
“Generally, it seems like my work has been about finding my place in the world,” Baldi said in a statement. “But there was a point in which I realized that you can be missing something important in your life, a part you didn’t realize you were missing until it’s there – hence the title. This record is like my version of new age music. It’s supposed to be inspiring.”
Baldi gauged the album’s quality while cruising around the suburbs of Cleveland, listening to the songs on his car stereo. “If it sounds good to me in that context, and I can think of high school me listening to it and saying, ‘That’s okay,’ I feel good about the record. This is the one that’s felt best,” he said.
The Ohio quartet also expanded their upcoming tour to include a round of West Coast dates in February. See the full list of dates below.
