Hear Chris Robinson Brotherhood’s Trippy New Rocker ‘Shore Power’

The Chris Robinson Brotherhood won’t release their third studio album until April 29th, but fans are getting an early taste of Phosphorescent Harvest with today’s arrival of “Shore Power.” The electrifying lead-off track – which debuts here – boasts a vintage rock vibe that’s at once quirky, trippy, soulful and downright magnetic.
“‘Shore Power’ is basically a tone mosaic of life in the CRB,” Robinson tells Rolling Stone. “Just a sonic snapshot of a typical day in the heads of all of us on planet freedom.”
It’s the first of 10 new songs that the band – which also features ex-Ryan Adams guitarist Neal Casal, keyboardist Adam MacDougall, drummer George Sluppick and bassist Mark Dutton – tracked with producer Thom Monahan (Pernice Brothers, Au Revoir Simone). With the exception of two Robinson-penned numbers, the material was co-written with Casal and includes titles like “About a Stranger,” “Meanwhile in the Gods…,” “Badlands Here We Come,” and “Jump the Turnstiles.”
Ahead of the new record, the Chris Robinson Brotherhood have a handful of Southern shows including a high profile performance on April 20th at the Sweetwater 420 Festival in Atlanta. Then, in tandem with the album’s release, a West Coast tour gets underway at Terrapin Crossroads in San Rafael, California, on April 29th with shows booked throughout May. Complete CRB tour dates are available here.
