Hear A-Trak, Joey Purp’s Club-Ready Phantogram Remix
Canadian producer A-Trak enlisted Chance the Rapper affiliate Joey Purp to remix Phantogram‘s “You Don’t Get Me High Anymore.”
The duo reconfigure the original track’s dark grit into a supple beat packed with ticking percussion and synth stabs that build thrillingly around Phantogram singer Sarah Barthel’s vocals. The song’s highlight is Purp punching out the breathless verse: “Hustle out my momma’s house/ Busting out the function/ Hustle out my locker of the school that I was flunking.”
“You Don’t Get Me High Anymore” appears on Phantogram’s latest record, Three, which arrived in October. Last May, A-Trak tapped Phantogram for his own single, “Parallel Lines,” while in November he released a retrospective LP, In the Loop: A Decade of Remixes.
Joey Purp is coming off a breakout 2016 thanks to his project, iiiDrops, which earned a spot on Rolling Stone‘s 40 Best Rap Albums of the year.
