Hatebreed Rips CNN Over ‘White Power’ Tag in Web Story

Hatebreed has lashed out at CNN on Twitter after the cable news channel included the Connecticut metalcore group in a list of white supremacist bands as part of its coverage of the Sikh temple shooting that left six people dead near Milwaukee last weekend.

Wade Page, the ex-soldier responsible for the temple rampage, played in several white power bands. In a story posted yesterday on CNN’s website about the white supremacist music scene Page had immersed himself in, Lonnie Nasatir of the Anti-Defamation League included a list of bands whose “names defiantly express feelings of hate or violence,” including Angry Aryans, Definite Hate, Final Solution, Force Fed Hate, Fueled by Hate, Hate Crime, Jew Slaughter and White Terror. The list at first also included Hatebreed, before CNN amended the article and posted a correction.

CNN said “they ‘regret the error’ but it still sucks to be labeled that when we’ve NEVER been down w/ racism,” Hatebreed singer Jamey Jasta tweeted yesterday.

Hatebreed took an even stronger stand on its official Twitter account, demanding an apology and a retraction and mocking the beleaguered news channel’s credibility. “Writers like Lonnie Nasatir are the reason why the American media is looked at as a complete joke,” the band tweeted

The Anti-Defamation League’s Chicago office, where Nasatir works, apologized on Facebook for including Hatebreed in the story.
