Gucci Mane will publish a new memoir, The Autobiography of Gucci Mane, September 19th via Simon and Schuster. The book will chronicle the rapper’s poverty-stricken upbringing in Alabama, his time as a drug dealer and rise as a rapper, while also tackling his struggles with drugs, alcohol, violence and run-ins with the law.

Per Simon and Schuster’s description of the book, “[Gucci Mane] reflects on his inimitable career and in the process confronts his dark past – years behind bars, the murder charge, drug addiction, career highs and lows – the making of a trap god. It is one of the greatest comeback stories in the history of music.”

Music journalist Neil Martinez-Belkin co-wrote The Autobiography of Gucci Mane, which the rapper began working on while serving a two-year prison sentence on federal weapons charges. The rapper was released in May 2016 and immediately got back to work, releasing a new album, Everybody Looking, in July. Over the next several months, the rapper put out two more records — Woptober and The Return of East Atlanta Santa — several collaborative mixtapes and EPs and scored a Number One single with Rae Sremmurd’s “Black Beatles.”

In January, Gucci Mane revealed the title of his next album, Drop Top Wop, though a release date has yet to be announced. The rapper will embark on the first tour of his career April 5th at the House of Blues in Boston.
