Grammys Update: Awards Will Be Scripted By Striking Writers

A week after announcing that the Grammys would not be picketed by striking writers or boycotted by actor/musicians, the Recording Academy inked an interim deal with the Writers Guild that allows writers to participate in the awards ceremony, which will take place on February 10th in Los Angeles. Writers are now free to fill teleprompters with witty banter, as well as pen the opening monologues and introductions for every award presentation (no such deal has been struck for the Oscars, which are also scheduled to go on as planned on February 24th). As announced last week, Beyonce, Foo Fighters, Carrie Underwood, Rihanna & the Time and Mary J. Blige are scheduled to perform, with rumors of Tina Turner, Kanye West and Amy Winehouse (if she gets out of rehab in time) appearances still in the wind.
