Gotye Unhappy About ‘Glee’ Cover

Speaking to the Courier-Mail in his native Australia, singer-songwriter Gotye expressed some frustration over Glee‘s recent rendition of his breakout hit “Somebody That I Used to Know.”

“They did such a faithful arrangement of the instrumentals, but the vocals were that pop Glee style, ultra dry, sounded pretty tuned, and the rock has no real sense,” said Gotye. “Like it’s playing to you from a cardboard box.”

With so much attention around “Somebody,” Gotye admitted that the swarm of cover versions have worn on him a bit. “It gets to a point where it starts to feel a bit self-conscious, and I don’t want to hear any more people doing something with this,” he said. “I don’t always look at all of the parodies and covers that people send me.”
