Girls’ Christopher Owens Leaves Band

Girls frontman Christopher Owens announced on Twitter this morning that he is leaving the band. “Dear all, This may come as a surprise to many [and] has been an issue of much thought for me. My decision was not easy to make,” says Owens. “I am leaving Girls. My reasons at this time are personal. I need to do this in order to progress. I will continue to write [and] record music. More will be announced soon. I thank you all for everything.”
Owens was the primary songwriter for the two-person group. The band released their latest album, Father, Son, Holy Ghost, last year after releasing an EP in 2010 and their debut album, Album, in 2009. There’s no word yet on whether Owens’ former bandmate, JR White, will continue with Girls.
