Get a Taste of ‘Dirtybird BBQ’ With Shiba San’s House Party ‘Okay’

Shiba San’s “Okay” isn’t just the definitive number on the new Dirtybird BBQ compilation, it’s a global club sensation in waiting. The house track’s hypnotic beat and redundant but likable exclamations are the ideal gateway to the 11-track release, which features Justin Martin, Catz’N Dogz & Justin Jay among others and drops here today via the Birdhouse before a global release next Tuesday.
“Shiba San’s track is a real highlight from the new Dirtybird BBQ compilation, it has been destroying dance floors everywhere over the last few months for me,” says Claude VonStroke, the producer and label boss born Barclay Crenshaw. “The whole compilation is really a celebration of the O.G. Dirtybird BBQ vibe that has been in place since we started throwing free BBQ parties in Golden Gate Park many years ago. Be sure to come out, and grill and chill with us at one of the upcoming BBQ tour dates this summer.”
The event first got underway in 2001 and kept the same core lineups — and the same chef — for a decade until the notorious free party in the park became so massive that organizer’s permits were pulled by San Francisco officials. Those parties were the impetus for CVS to take the BBQ party across North America and Europe.
VonStroke’s celebration will touch down in Florida for Miami Music Week, where he and the other original Dirtybird members – Christian Martin and Justin Martin – will descend on Cafeina Wynwood on March 27th. Expect the Dirtybird contingent to bring a special guest to the event that should rival 2012’s appearance by A Tribe Called Quest and 2013’s performance by De La Soul. Dirtybird BBQ is available for pre-order on iTunes.
