George Harrison Readies Reissue, New Album

Amidst new Beatlemania, Harrison readying new album

In the midst of the holiday wave of newfound Beatlemania, George Harrison has been working on a new album, his first in more than a decade. Harrison’s latest offering will follow his two-disc re-release of his classic solo album, All Things Must Pass, on Jan. 23.

Harrison’s twenty-two-year-old son Dhani is helping his father with an album of new material, in what will be Harrison’s first offering since 1987’s Cloud Nine. He said that the new album — which he is producing himself — could come out as early as next fall. Harrison plays most of the instruments himself, but brought session drummer extraordinaire Jim Kelter to help.

For the new version of All Things Must Pass, Harrison re-recorded his ode to peace, love, understanding and Hare Krishna, “My Sweet Lord,” which topped charts on both sides of the Atlantic in 1971. The reissue will also contain a handful of bonus tracks.
