George Clinton, Parliament-Funkadelic Plot Mardi Gras Madness Tour

George Clinton and Parliament-Funkadelic announced their “Mardi Gras Madness” U.S. tour on Wednesday. The funk legends will kick off the 10-date trek February 16th in Pittsburgh and conclude March 4th at Florida’s Okeechobee Festival. On Mardi Gras, February 28th, the band will host a special “Fat Tuesday” celebration at New York’s B.B. King Blues Club.
The tour was conceived and produced by Nick Szatmari of Universal Attractions Agency. Tickets for all dates go on sale Friday, November 18th at 10 a.m. EST via the bandleader-producer’s website.
In 2014, Clinton and Funkadelic released the 33-track LP First Ya Gotta Shake the Gate, their first under that moniker in over three decades. Kendrick Lamar and Ice Cube joined the group for a remix of single “Ain’t That Funkin’ Hard on You?”
Clinton’s innovative style continues to influence a new generation of funk, rap and electronic artists. Last year, the songwriter added vocals to “The Lavishments of Light Looking,” the first collaboration by Flying Lotus, Thundercat and Shabazz Palaces as WOKE. Clinton also co-wrote and sang on Kendrick Lamar’s electro-funk odyssey “Wesley’s Theory,” which opens 2015’s To Pimp a Butterfly.
In August, Clinton co-headlined the AfroPunk NYC Festival alongside Tyler, the Creator and Ice Cube. The following month, he joined Flying Lotus, Shabazz Palaces and Thundercat at the eclectic Brainfeeder at the Bowl event in Los Angeles.
