Garbage Prep New Album ‘Strange Little Birds’

Alternative nation elder statesmen Garbage will release their sixth studio album, Strange Little Birds, on June 10th via their own Stunvolume label.
The band began recording the album in drummer Butch Vig’s basement and finished it at Red Razor Sounds in Los Angeles. In a statement, Vig and frontwoman Shirley Manson said the band’s guiding principle was keeping things fresh and not fussing over the details.
As a result, Manson said Strange Little Birds bares a striking resemblance to Garbage’s beloved 1995 self-titled debut. “To me, this record, funnily enough, has the most to do with the first record than any of the previous records,” Manson said. “It’s getting back to that beginner’s headspace. In part, that’s a result of not having anyone to answer to.” The band celebrated the 20th anniversary of Garbage by playing the album in full during a trek last year.
Strange Little Birds follows Garbage’s 2012 album, Not Your Kind of People. The album was produced by the band, and a clip of one new song can be heard on the homepage of their website. A full track list is below.
Garbage have a handful of European tour dates slated for this summer, and are expected to announce additional concerts in the coming months.
