Garbage will recount their career in a new autobiographical coffee table book, This Is the Noise That Keeps Me Awake, out July 4th via Akashic Books.
The book, written by journalist and former Rolling Stone contributor Jason Cohen, will also include original pieces from all four members of Garbage – Shirley Manson, Butch Vig, Duke Erikson and Steve Marker – plus an array of never-before-seen photographs.
“We were starting to forget what we wanted to remember,” Manson said of the impetus to put the book together. “Twenty-two years is a long time to keep track of the magic and the madness.”
This Is the Noise That Keeps Me Awake is available to pre-order in several formats. A limited edition bundle, for instance, includes a hardcover copy of the book, a custom collectible box and a 12-inch vinyl record featuring six previously unreleased live recordings of “Milk,” “You Look So Fine,” “Cup of Coffee,” “Bleed Like Me,” “Beloved Freak,” and “Even Though Our Love Is Doomed.”
Along with their new book, Garbage will embark on a co-headlining North American tour this summer with Blondie, starting July 5th at the Mountain Winery in Saratoga, California. Garbage released their last album, Strange Little Birds, in 2016.
