Garbage ‘Blood for Poppies’

Clip for first single, ‘Blood for Poppies’

The video for "Blood for Poppies," the first single from Garbage's new album Not Your Kind Of People, refers directly to several art film classics, including the eyeball-slicing scene from Luis Bunuel's Un Chien Andalou. (That bit was famously referenced by the Pixies in their classic tune "Debaser.") The song itself borrows from a famous source as well – while "Poppies" mostly has the sound of the band's Nineties hits, the "oh-oh-ohhh" hook is lifted from Laura Branigan's Eighties smash "Self Control."
