Frank Ocean Announces First Live Shows Since 2014
UPDATE: Frank Ocean added two U.S. festival dates to his 2017 live schedule: Hangout Festival, which will take place May 19th through 21st in Gulf Shores, Alabama, and Sasquatch Festival, set for May 26th through 28th in George, Washington. Ocean will headline Hangout alongside Mumford & Sons, Chance the Rapper and Twenty One Pilots, while Sasquatch has yet to announce any other artists on its lineup. Early bird tickets for Sasquatch are on sale now and tickets for Hangout go on sale December 11th.
Frank Ocean has eluded the live concert circuit since summer 2014. But the singer just announced he will perform at two festivals in summer 2017: NorthSide Festival in Denmark on June 9th and at London’s Lovebox Festival on July 14th. These are Ocean’s first announced shows since the release of Blonde last summer.
When Ocean returned from a four-year hiatus in August, he released a visual album, Endless, and another full-length, Blonde, which went to Number One on the Billboard albums chart. Ocean later told The New York Times that he uses sales and streaming data about his album to help him select his next live appearances.
“I need to know how many records I’ve sold, how many album equivalents from streaming, which territories are playing my music more than others, because it helps me in conversations about where we’re gonna be playing shows, or where I might open a retail location, like a pop-up store or something,” said Ocean.
