“Art is a powerful tool for encouraging positive social change,” Blacc tells Rolling Stone. “I’m dedicated to using my message and actions to bring hope and transformation to those in need. It’s a tremendous honor to celebrate the 80th birthday and legacy of the Dalai Lama who has done this his entire life.”
The Dalai Lama’s talk is scheduled just two days ahead of his 80th birthday on July 6th. That same day, the Art of Peace Foundation, will celebrate His Holiness with the release of Songs for Tibet II, a follow-up to the foundation’s 2008 compilation. Produced and coordinated by songwriter Rupert Hine, the new disc will feature contributions from musicians like Sting, Lorde, Peter Gabriel, Kate Bush, the Crystal Method and Of Monsters and Men.
Songs for Tibet II is currently available to pre-order on PledgeMusic in a variety of physical and digital forms. Proceeds from the album will benefit initiatives designed to spread the teachings of the Dalai Lama, and promote and preserve the culture of Tibet.
