Foo Fighters’ Dave Grohl Gets His Own Alley in Ohio Hometown

In 2006, Oklahoma City named an alley after its favorite freaky sons the Flaming Lips, last month it was announced that Run-DMC will lay claim to the corner of 205th Street and Hollis Avenue in Queens when it’s rechristened “Run-DMC JMJ Way,” and this Saturday, the city of Warren, Ohio, will honor Dave Grohl with a street of his own. According to local Website Trib Today, Grohl is expected to show for the festivities and has apparently requested an acoustic guitar and two drum kits be provided as part of his one-day rider.

The Foo Fighters frontman and former Nirvana drummer was born in Warren and still has family in the area, though he moved to Alexandria, Virginia, at a very young age. Late last year, the Warren city council successfully petitioned to rename downtown’s Market Alley “David Grohl Alley,” and in honor of the dedication, the town is hosting a week-long “Music is Art” festival. It’s also invited local artists to paint murals along the alley walls in a tribute to Grohl’s musical career (see pics here).
