Foals have been on the road almost nonstop since releasing their latest album, Holy Fire, in February. The rigors of touring have kept them from writing new material, but they’ll be ready to start once they are back home in England.
“Touring, in a way – it’s like marinating in your brain,” frontman Yannis Philippakis disclosed when he stopped by Rolling Stone‘s Rock Room during the first day of Coachella. “We feel like we write better at the end of that process, rather than trying to write before it’s ready.” They also don’t want to get ahead of themselves. “At the moment, we’re still working out how to play some of the new ones and getting used to playing the new ones,” added guitarist Jimmy Smith.
After the indie-rockers perform at Coachella, they’ll head out for a nine-week run in the United States, a few shows in Mexico and multiple festival appearances. “They just keep adding on tours like Lego bricks,” joked Smith.
