Evan Dando Plots Return

Ex-Lemonhead returns to the road, plans new release

With Evan Dando’s first solo record expected out in mid-2002, the former Lemonheads leader is preparing his return to the spotlight with a few East Coast dates. Dando will hit Philadelphia, Boston, New York and Hoboken, New Jersey, from December 28th to the 31st.

Dando will have a full band behind him; bassist Winston Braman and drummer Matt Kadane, will play in Boston and New York while, drummer Arthur Johnson plays in Philadelphia and Hoboken. Guitarist Chris Brokaw will join Dando for all shows except Philly. Nat Freedburg will open for the first three dates, while the Count-Me-Outs open on New Year’s Eve.

Dando recently released a live record, Live at the Brattle, which contains solo versions of Lemonhead songs as well as a cover of Big Star’s “Thirteen” and the new and amply titled, “The Same Thing You Thought About Is the Same Thing I Can Live Without.” Live at the Brattle also comes with a bonus EP, recorded under the name the Griffith Sunset, which contains covers of folk and country songs.
