Epic Springsteen Show Due as “London Calling” Live DVD
Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band’s epic performance at London’s Hard Rock Calling festival on June 28th, 2009 will come to DVD and Blu-ray as London Calling: Live In Hyde Park on June 22nd. As the title suggests, the 27-song concert opens up with a rousing cover of the Clash’s “London Calling” and goes on to span the Springsteen catalog from Born to Run to the Jersey legend’s most recent album, Working on a Dream.
Over London Calling‘s 163-minute long set, the E Street Band tackle impromptu covers like Jimmy Cliff’s “Trapped,” the Young Rascals’ “Good Lovin’,” Eddie Floyd’s “Raise Your Hand” and the fan favorite “Hard Times (Come Again No More),” written by Stephen Foster in 1854. The set also features Springsteen classics like “Jungleland,” “Glory Days,” “Badlands” and many more. The Gaslight Anthem’s Brian Fallon — named New Jersey’s Next Rock Hero in Rolling Stone‘s 40 Reasons to Be Excited About Music feature in our new issue — lends vocals to “No Surrender.”
The entire concert was filmed in HD, and cameras picked up all the action onstage and in the packed crowd. London Calling will also feature two bonus 2009 performances: “Wrecking Ball” from Springsteen’s final Meadowlands concert and “The River” from his Glastonbury set.
