Eminem is officially back.
“Survival,” a new track from the rapper’s upcoming eighth LP, is featured in a trailer for the video game Call of Duty: Ghosts. The hard-hitting joint finds Em celebrating his return in typically grand fashion (“I’m fuckin’ back again with another anthem”) over breakneck, arena-rock guitars and trashy drums. He’s also accompanied by a currently-unknown female vocalist on the chorus.
Concrete details are scarce regarding the rapper’s new album. Back in February, Shady Records president Paul Rosenberg stated that the LP would be released “post-Memorial Day.” “We fully expect to be releasing a new Eminem album in 2013,” Rosenberg said. “He’s been working on it for some time.”
A press release states that a new single will be “coming soon.” “Survival” can also be heard at Eminem’s official website.
In July, Eminem was also featured on “Symphony in H,” a track from DJ Tony Touch’s mixtape Piecemaker 3: The Return of the 50 MCs. The last Eminem studio album, Recovery, was released in 2010.
