Eminem Brings Out Dr. Dre for Groundbreaking Wembley Concert

Becomes first rapper to headline the 90,000-seat venue in his first London show since 2001

Eminem played his first show in London since 2001 on Friday night, and he made his return to the U.K. capital a momentous one. First off, he staged his comeback at Wembley Stadium, becoming the first rapper to ever headline at the 90,000-capacity venue. In the middle of the set, he upped the ante with a surprise appearance by his mentor, Dr. Dre.

5 Eminem Tracks Only Hardcore Fans Know

Eminem was performing his Notorious B.I.G. collaboration “Dead Wrong” when he hit the line “When I say ‘Doctor,’ you say ‘Dre.'” At the summoning, the Beats billionaire appeared on stage. The two launched into a medley of “Still D.R.E.,” “Nuthin’ But A ‘G’ Thang” and “Forgot About Dre.”

According to the Guardian, Eminem had originally planned to play in London’s Hyde Park, but was reportedly blocked from appearing there because his lyrics were found to be offensive. “I heard that I wasn’t going to be approved to play in Hyde Park and it made me even more excited to play in London this summer,” he said at the time. “The easiest way to get me to do something is to tell me I can’t do it. Thanks to the Royal Parks for making it all possible….for Wembley.”

Eminem will play a second show at Wembley on Saturday night, with Danny Brown and Odd Future opening, as they did on Friday. He kicks off his three-city U.S. stadium tour with Rihanna on August 7th.
