Elton John Planning Surreal Musical Movie Based on His Life

Elton John is working with Billy Elliot writer Lee Hall on developing a movie musical based on his life. Don’t expect it to be particularly realistic, though — the singer wants his biography to be more of a colorful fantasy along the lines of Baz Luhrmann’s Moulin Rouge. “It’s not going to be your normal, run-of-the-mill film,” he told BBC Radio 2 DJ Chris Evans. “My life’s been so surreal, from buying a football club to God knows what.”

John told Evans that Hall has completed a script for the biopic, but as of right now that’s as far as things have gone. No timetable for production has been set, and no director or actors are attached to the project.
