Eli Young Band Cut Loose on ‘Let’s Do Something Tonight’ – Premiere

On the heels of their massive hit “Drunk Last Night” and its recent follow-up, “Dust,” country favorites the Eli Young Band are unwrapping a new track exclusively on Rolling Stone. “Let’s Do Something Tonight” is a hook-laden love song that promotes spontaneity and will surely resonate with the group’s continuously-growing legion of fans.
“‘Let’s Do Something Tonight” is that ‘I’m ready to do something dangerous’ song, the band’s co-founder and lead singer Mike Eli tells Rolling Stone. “I think maybe that’s why we love it so much. It felt like that Friday night anthem that our band has never really had and this song accomplishes that without being cliché.
“We knew we had to record this tune from day one of making this album,” Eli adds. “A simple idea but not treading water in that boring, been there/done that territory.”
In support of 10,000 Towns (due March 4th) Eli, guitarist James Young, bassist Jon Jones and drummer Chris Thompson have been out on the road with Darius Rucker as part of his True Believers tour and will touch down tonight (February 27th) at the Erie Insurance Arena in Erie, Pennsylvania. Next month, the EYB – who were nominated last month for a 2014 Academy of Country Music Vocal Group of the Year Award – head to Australia for a week to support superstar Toby Keith before returning to North America for additional roadwork with Rucker.
